Environmental consciousness is consistently being talked about among fashion industry players and consumers of fashion alike. As such, partners at every stage of the value chain are looking to connect with reliable and verifiable companies that can meet sustainability requirements.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ branded viscose fibers honour nature through fiber production processes that are continuously refined to maximize resource efficiency and minimize environmental impact [1]. Derived from controlled or certified wood sources, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers are biodegradable and composable[2]. This is achieved all while providing exceptional fiber performance and blending benefits to partners and end-use customers. Not only is LENZING™ ECOVERO™ a pioneering label entrusted by partners to deliver high-quality fiber performance, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers are also backed up with certified claims[3] that are recognized by value chain partners in the industry.
“The main reason we use LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers is for the performance and quality. As a woven fabric manufacturer, we noticed that when we tested the fibers, we saw a clear difference between LENZING™ ECOVERO™ and generic viscose. In terms of appearance, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers have a much cleaner surface, which is perfect for our range of prints. Fashion labels also love the material and can tell the difference,” shared Philip Yu, Managing Director for New Focus Textiles Limited, a long-standing partner of the LENZING™ ECOVERO™ brand.
In 2023, REFIBRA™ technology was expanded to LENZING™ECOVERO™, transforming recycled cotton textile waste into new fibers as a continued commitment towards the transition to a circular economy in textiles and fashion. The fibers contain a minimum of 20% recycled material, which is sourced from pre- and post-consumer waste. These cotton scraps may have otherwise entered landfills or been incinerated.
Philip further commented, “For sustainable materials, we believe in three areas: reuse, recycle, and repurpose. This belief aligns perfectly with LENZING™ ECOVERO™’s maxim of ‘take less, give more’. We are extremely proud to have demonstrated these values in our latest collection featuring novelty yarn patterns and crinkle finishes made with LENZING™ ECOVERO™ with REFIBRA™ technology. This innovative fiber not only enhances the sustainability of our offerings, but also provides softness on the skin and a clean look.”
“LENZING™ ECOVERO™ is indeed an exceptional blending partner for fabric production, allowing us to create diverse products while also embodying the values of sustainable production,” said Leon Hsueh, General Manager at Artex Textiles Co., Ltd. “Additionally, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers not only deliver outstanding color performance, but also maintain fabric softness and comfort.”
Further enhancing versatility in product creation, Lenzing also offers LENZING™ ECOVERO™ branded viscose in black. LENZING™ ECOVERO™ black viscose fiber incorporates color pigments directly into the fiber via a spin-dye process. This results in up to 50% less energy and water consumption, while achieving up to a 60% reduction in carbon in carbon footprint compared to conventional dyeing [4]. This dyeing process makes for excellent long-lasting color retention and can achieve different color effects by altering the blending ratios, further boosting the fibers’ adaptability, and providing more options for Lenzing’s blend partners.
Well Lam, Managing Director at High Fashion International Limited, which produces silk in China, similarly expressed, “We decide to work with LENZING™ ECOVERO™ as the fibers provide exceptional physical and functional benefits, such as softness and drape. We often face limitations during the dyeing process, but with LENZING™ ECOVERO™ black viscose fiber, we’re able to streamline this process and go directly from fiber to finished fabric. Cutting the production process also allows us to cut emissions and enhance the sustainability of our offerings.”
Well continued, “Since the start of our collaboration with LENZING™ ECOVERO™, our products have been used by top designer labels and contemporary brands for athleisure, sportswear and home wear. Working with LENZING™ ECOVERO™ allows us to focus on creativity, innovation, and sustainability. Naturally, we are thrilled by the circularity concept adopted by LENZING™ ECOVERO™ with REFIBRA™ technology and will be launching a collection during the Première Vision show in February 2024 .”
“LENZING™ ECOVERO™ inspires individuals to approach their attire with the same conscientiousness as they do their dietary choices. It stands as a transformative force, assuming responsibility for shaping the fashion landscape. Our industry unquestionably requires a greater adoption of this mindset, as it empowers us to exercise control and make informed choices that yield positive outcomes,” said Amis Zhao, Market Development for Suzhou Shiyuan Textile Co., Ltd., a long-standing customer and partner of LENZING™ ECOVERO™.
